VISOR and Oregon DOC
VISOR, the Victim Information System in Oregon, is for offender status notification. It is not a substitute for a jail file or court record. Jail Viewer points users to VISOR or 1-888-749-8080 for offender status updates. Users need the offender's State ID/SID or inmate identification number. If SID is not visible, the jail can provide routing help at 503-588-8595.
The Oregon Department of Corrections offender search is the statewide channel for people sentenced to state custody or supervised by DOC. Marion Jail Viewer is for county jail custody and booking records. A person may move from county jail to DOC after sentencing, so the right lookup depends on the stage of the case.
VISOR is useful for notice, not for document review. It can help a victim or registered user receive status updates, but it does not show the full court file, jail mail rules, commissary options, or certified copies. DOC search is different again. It becomes relevant after a person is sentenced to state prison or supervised by DOC. Marion County Jail Visitation
Marion County Jail uses a schedule based on general population last-name ranges. The jail says there are no make-up visits for days that fall on holidays or facility-needs closures. Video visitation is also available through The Visitor video visitation system. Friends, family, and professionals can schedule and conduct visits at jail kiosks or remotely with a smartphone or computer, after free registration.
Visitors should confirm both the day and the adult in custody's current housing before planning a visit. A roster entry can change after classification, transport, court appearance, release, or movement to the Transition Center. Remote video access does not remove the need to register and follow jail rules. Professional visits and family visits may also follow different procedures, so the visiting policy page should be checked with the schedule page before the visit date.

Mail Commissary and Calls
Adults in custody may send and receive mail to maintain contact. Incoming and outgoing mail must be postcard format no larger than 5.5 by 8.5 inches or letters of no more than 10 written pages with no blank pages. Mail must include the adult in custody's first and last name and SID number, and can be addressed to the adult in custody at 4000 Aumsville Hwy SE, Salem, OR 97317.

Sheriff App Limits
The Sheriff's Office advertises the MCSO InTheKnow app through tip411. The county page and app listings describe anonymous crime tip submission, agency crime alerts, and other agency web or social content. No app-only inmate roster or warrant lookup was found in the descriptions. For inmate records, Jail Viewer and the jail phone lines remain the official search and confirmation channels.
Use MCSO InTheKnow for tips and alerts only. Use Jail Viewer for current county custody, Oregon DOC search for sentenced state custody, and VISOR for notification registration.
This distinction is important for inmate searches because an alert app can make it look like the Sheriff's Office has a mobile records tool. The researched app descriptions do not show that function. A person looking for an adult in custody should not download the app expecting a jail roster. The official custody path remains Jail Viewer, jail phone confirmation, and the separate court or DOC channels when the question moves beyond county jail custody.
